A hero from the past

If I had a chance to invite someone over to dinner from the past that person would definitely be Christopher Columbus. Columbus has been one of my favorite historical character ever since I did a research paper on him for history class.

Columbus is an excellent role model for teenagers today. In persue of a dream Columbus had done what others thought was impossible. Despite many failures Columbus never gave up, a self determination that many teenagers today lack. Columbus had many excellent personal characteristics in which we all can learn from. For one thing Columbus was extraordinarily brave. When others learned of his plan to cross the Atlantic they told him stories of falling off the world, of strange sea monsters, and those who are educated they told him the voyage was far too long and he will probably run out of supplies before he could reach shore. Despite the comments Columbus did not let that stop him from going for his goal, he trusted his own calculations and believe that he will make it.

In order to survive and be successful in the world we live in we als have to be brave and self determine like Columbus. Reading about Columbus has taught me to believe in myself, don't be discourage at the first sign of trouble. Also I learned that I have to be brave, to be able to express myself and my ideas in a clear and understandable fashion.
